The main event at UFC 294 will two wildly-intriguing fights, the first of which will pit Khamzat Chimaev against Kamaru Usman before Islam Makhachev faces Alexander Volkanovski in what should wild finale as these two meet for a second time. The main card fights start Saturday, October 21 at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET, but the title fights will take place later in the evening and will be streaming live only on ESPN Plus PPV.

Alexander Volkanovski was left confused over UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev’s attempt at intimidation as the two prepare to do battle in the octagon for a second time.

Volkanovski stepped up on less than two week’s notice to face Makhachev for the lightweight title in Abu Dhabi after Charles Oliveira was forced out due to a nasty cut sustained during sparring.

Makhachev won the first encounter between the pair in Perth to retain his lightweight belt, although many felt Volkanovski did enough to cause an almighty upset. The two will now do battle in Abu Dhabi as Makhachev firms as the favourite to win, but Volkanovski is not fazed by the scale of the task in front of him.

Nor is he rattled by what he felt was a feeble attempt at intimidation from the Russian superstar as the two locked eyes on one another for the first time since arriving in the UAE.

Before the UFC 294 action begins, there will be a free live stream of the watch along.

The UFC 294 event will emanate from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. There will be a highly anticipated title rematch, as well as a number one contender fight. Both bouts were booked on short notice, and some may argue that they are better than the original plans.

In the main event, Islam Makhachev will put his UFC Lightweight Championship at stake against Alex Volkanovski in a rematch. The two first met at UFC 284 back in February. It was Makhachev who emerged victorious via unanimous decision in a high-level, action-packed fight. Will history repeat itself? Can Volkanovski become a two-division champion?

The co-headliner will feature a high stakes middleweight clash. Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will go one-on-one with Khamzat Chimaev. The winner of this bout will be granted a shot at the UFC Middleweight Championship. Sean Strickland is the current 185-pound titleholder.

Man, their first fight was so much fun! The UFC’s featherweight champion performed far better than what a lot of fans, and oddsmakers, were expecting, and Volkanovski actually made the match debatable. I feel like the right guy won that night, but that fight definitely had me longing for more. When Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira 2 was announced, I was fine with it and all, but Islam vs. Alex 2 is even more palatable.

The co-main event on deck for UFC 294 will see the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev welcome a short-notice former welterweight champion in Kamaru Usman up to 185-pounds. That’s right, Paulo Costa is out, and Usman is in. I have no clue as to what this is going to look like. The stylistic matchup alludes to a striking battle, but the size discrepancy appears to favor a grappling affair. Kamaru is up a division, and this on short notice. Khamzat isn’t new to the division, didn’t have to endure a surprise weight cut, and he’s has gone through a full camp.

Before that, we’ll be in the light heavyweight division where the UFC’s @2 ranked, Magomed Ankalaev, throws down with the #7 ranked, Johnny Walker. Even at his most clinical, there’s no way Ankalaev could have a boring fight with Walker standing across from him… right? Also on the UFC 294 undercard will be a classic battle between a top prospect and a salty dog veteran, when the 9-0 Muhammad Mokaev meets the 19-12-1 Tim Elliott.

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor will not face sexual assault charges following an investigation of allegations that surfaced during the NBA Finals last June in Miami, his lawyer, police and prosecutors said Wednesday.

The probe examined claims by a woman that McGregor assaulted her in an arena bathroom after Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.

“After a thorough investigation, including a review of videos and interviews with eyewitnesses, the authorities have concluded that there is no case to pursue against my client, Conor McGregor,” attorney Barbara Llanes said in an email.

“As anticipated, this decision by the authorities confirms Mr. McGregor’s account of the evening. On behalf of my client, his family and his fans we are pleased this is now over.”

The decision was also confirmed by the State Attorney’s Office, which said the charges were dropped. It was not immediately clear if the case’s closeout memo had been completed.

The woman had accused McGregor of forcing her into a bathroom at the Kaseya Center in Miami and that security did nothing to help.

McGregor was at the Heat game as a promotional gimmick for a pain-relief spray, which turned into an in-game skit with the Heat mascot, Burnie, that went wrong. The mascot was wearing oversized boxing gloves and a robe akin to what a fighter would wear entering the ring for a bout. McGregor hit Burnie with a left hook, knocking him down, then punched the mascot again after he hit the floor.
